After a chance encounter calling into the Yarrows site in Tirau, we quickly discovered that the factory manager was incredibly dissatisfied with a flooring system put down by one of our competitors a few years earlier.
We also learnt that they were planning for an install of modern equipment upgrade and to correct the floors prior to this upgrade would make a lot of sense.
After listening to and observing the flooring issues, it was clear that the correct system for the functional needs of the facility needed to be put forward. After years of using cost effective roll coat systems, we showed the team why they needed to shift to a more durable, thicker cementitious polyurethane system.
The next challenge was getting the non-slip texture just right. Too coarse an aggregate and cleaning the flour from the floors becomes a time-consuming task, too fine an aggregate and it becomes a health and safety nightmare.
With the upgraded equipment chosen, we were now to get the floor level for it. Not so easy when the floor falls to a very nearly drain, but a solution was found.
We’ve now done 2 other flooring projects for the Yarrows team and look forward to doing more work for them.
